What precautions are you taking to keep students and staff safe during COVID?

  • All classes are held outdoors with social distancing measures in place.

How can I pay?

Please sign up and pay online before class to reserve your space and board. If for any reason you are unable to pre-register please reach out and we will come up with a solution.

How do I sign up?

Sign up on the Sign-up page and follow the directions below.

Choose your appointment type. Then select a date from the options on the calendar. Be sure to specify if you need to rent a board or if you will be bringing your own (select from options above the calendar). Next, fill out your personal information. Finally, enter your payment info. You should get a confirmation email with the details of your appointment.

I can barely do yoga or balance on a paddle board; how can I do both?

Our SUP Yoga classes are designed to be appropriate for beginners, however you should have some paddle experience. We require students to paddle to the class location, which can be up to a 10 minute paddle. You can rent a paddleboard from NautiMI if you’d like to get some experience before taking class.

During the yoga portion of class we offer multiple pose modifications to suit all skill levels. Having a wider base of support and lower center of gravity will make you feel more stable as we move through yoga poses and we will offer cues to help you with this. It is important that you honor your experience level and know your personal limit.

What should I wear?

Sunblock, secure swimsuit, non-cotton shorts/yoga pants and tank top/shirt. Water shoes are optional and protect you when getting in and out of the water (even if it's just sandals or sneakers that you don't mind getting wet). For a colder day we suggest additional layers an extra towel and change of dry clothes in case you get wet. We have a safe place to lock your valuables, such as keys, during class.

What should I bring?

Don't bring anything of value onto the water with you as you may drop it in the water. Only wear sunglasses and hats during class if you are okay losing them and you have a way to secure them. We can lock valuables such as keys and wallets in our vehicle or you are welcome to lock them in your own vehicle. The parking lot is close to where we get on and off the water.

We suggest bringing a water bottle, sunscreen, towel and possibly bug spray. You can leave your water bottle on shore or secure it to your board using the board strap or a carabiner clip. If you bring your own paddle board then please bring a life vest and paddle.

Do I need to bring my own board?

No! You are able to rent a board from us! Just be sure to select the class option that includes board rental. Double check that the price is $40 to verify. The board rental also includes a life jacket and paddle.

What if I have my own board?

Great! You must bring your own paddle and life vest when you bring your own board. Our insurance requires that everyone wear their life jacket when paddling. The fee for the class without board rental is $30.

Will I get wet?

Yes! Even if you don't fall in you will get a little wet being on the water and getting in/out of the water.

There is a chance that you will fall in but that is part of the experience! We encourage all participants to be aware of their balance and honor their personal limit. We offer a variety of pose modifications that are beginner friendly. If you want to stay more connected to the board to maximize stability, you can keep the knee down in lunges, stay on your knees instead of coming to standing, and keep your center of gravity lower to the board. All of the poses are optional.

Do I need to know how to swim?

No! If you don't know how to swim we will ask that you wear a life vest the whole time you are on the water. If you are nervous around water, it is a great option to wear a life vest during class. We also recommend a private SUP class to get more comfortable if you're really scared to be on the water.

Is there a minimum age required for participation?

Yes, the minimum age is 10 years old. If you are under 18 we require your guardian to read, complete, and sign the waiver. An adult must be present in class with all students that are under 18.

What is your cancelation policy?

Cancellations must be made 4 hours before the class starts. If you cancel less than 4 hours before the class starts, you will not be refunded.

What if I have to change my class reservation date?

You can change your class reservation date anytime up to 4 hours prior to class. If you do not come to class on the confirmed reservation date (aka no-show for a class) then we are unable to honor your exchange for a future date.

What if there is bad weather?

We keep a close eye on the radar and weather and will do our best to notify you 2 hours before class if we have to cancel. If we cancel class due to weather, you can reschedule at your convenience via email for a date that works for you.

How are you inclusive to all sizes of people?

Unfortunately we are not able to accommodate all sizes due to the capacity of our equipment. Our paddleboards are most comfortable/buoyant for paddlers 250 lbs or lighter. Our life jackets fit chest sizes 30-52 inches. If this size will not fit, you can bring your own or attach it to the board and wear a leash during class. Please contact us if you have any concerns!

What should I expect in a SUP Yoga class?

  • You will meet us at the location 15 minutes before class starts (see below for detailed directions).

  • Fill out our waiver.

  • Gather your rented/personal equipment; paddle, life vest, and paddle board.

  • Get to know all class members with a quick introduction.

  • Carry the boards to the water.

  • Launch the boards in the water, be sure to get on your board on your knees.

  • We will give detailed instructions on how to stand up if needed.

  • We will paddle to a more sheltered area of the water for class, where we will anchor the boards.

  • Class consists of approximately 40 minutes of guided poses and breathing.

  • We'll have time to play around and try out some harder poses before savasana (which is like heaven on a board).

  • Then it's back to shore! Leave feeling refreshed and relaxed
